The big trend in the design world is embracing all-things natural beauty. As a result, we're seeing fresh, natural wood detailing everywhere. There’s wood-framed windows, highlighted architecture and paneled refrigerators enlivening otherwise ultra-sparse spaces. The takeaway here? While this might be a trend, we know that natural beauty will always be in style. Go ahead, don't be shy. Strip down to the beautiful, bare basics.

Spice Things Up

I think we can all respect the beauty of a crisp, white-on-white interior. But sometimes, too much white becomes too much. I.E. "sleek" becomes stale. Nobody wants that, right?
Designers are two steps ahead of us, warming things up with rich, wood accents in white-on-white spaces. Serendipite Design showcases cinnamon-colored wood throughout an otherwise all-white kitchen. I’m especially obsessed with the framing of the cabinetry and paneling of the refrigerator.

Keep It Neutral

Confession: I'm a sucker when it comes to painted, hand-crafted furniture. A white chalk paint, a glossy turquoise or just about any pastel you could think of — it doesn’t matter. I'm obsessed. You know who’s not so-obsessed? My fiancé.
While pretty, painted pieces are great for a boss-lady bachelorette pad, they're not so great for a shared living space.
Solution: Skip the paint all together. FLO Design Studio does just that, using an understated, wooden entertainment center in this cozy family room. The space is completely gender neutral and completely gorgeous. So much so that I’m not even tempted to throw a coat of aqua chalk paint on there.

Totally Timeless

There’s a reason why people throw mini-parades upon uncovering original hardwood in their homes. Wood is beautiful, durable and withstanding. Incorporating natural wood finishes throughout your home will, without doubt, add unique character and charm to your space.

Versatility

Designers of all styles are utilizing this trend. Wood design is not restricted to rustic, farmhouse interiors. We're seeing designers showcase wood in ultra-modern, contemporary, traditional and eclectic spaces alike. Each just as stunning as the next.
FLO Design Studio outdid themselves, using thin wooden panels to draw interest to the ceiling of this midcentury modern dining room.

Lived-In Look

Adding wood accents to create nooks throughout your home results in that ever-sought-after effortless and lived-in look. Designer Regan Baker proves this technique works wonders to cozy up an otherwise modern home.
